(Psa 119:163-168) "I hate and abhor lying: but thy LAW do I love. {164} Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments. {165} Great peace have they which love thy LAW: and nothing shall offend them. {166} LORD, I have hoped for thy salvation, because I have done thy commandments. {167} My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly. {168} I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: for all my ways are before thee."
(Prov 1:21-25) "She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying, {22} How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? {23} Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. {24} Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; {25} But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:"
(Prov 6:16-24) "These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: {17} A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, {18} An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, {19} A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. {20} My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: {21} Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck. {22} When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. {23} For the COMMANDMENT is a lamp; and the LAW is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: {24} To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman."
(Prov 8:11-23) "For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. {12} I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. {13} The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. {14} Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength. {15} By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. {16} By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. {17} I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. {18} Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. {19} My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. {20} I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: {21} That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures. {22} The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. {23} I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was."
(Prov 8:32-36) "Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways. {33} Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. {34} Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. {35} For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. {36} But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death."
(Prov 9:1-10) "Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars: {2} She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table. {3} She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city, {4} Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, {5} Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled. {6} Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding. {7} He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot. {8} Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. {9} Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. {10} The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding."
(Mat 5:43-46) "Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. {44} But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; {45} That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. {46} For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?"
(Mat 6:22-25) "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. {23} But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! {24} No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. {25} Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?"
(Mat 24:9-14) "Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. {10} And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. {11} And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. {12} And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. {13} But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. {14} And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come."
(Luke 1:70-75) "As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began: {71} That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; {72} To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; {73} The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, {74} That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, {75} In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life."
(Luke 6:20-29) "And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. {21} Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. {22} Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. {23} Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets. {24} But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation. {25} Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep. {26} Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets. {27} But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, {28} Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. {29} And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.
(Luke 14:25-35) "And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them, {26} If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. {27} And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. {28} For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? {29} Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, {30} Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. -- {33} So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. {34} Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? {35} It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear."
(Rom 7:11-25) "For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. {12} Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. {13} Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. {14} For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. {15} For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. {16} If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. {17} Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. {18} For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. {19} For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. {20} Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. {21} I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. {22} For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: {23} But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. {24} O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? {25} I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin."
(Rom 8:1-5) "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. {2} For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. {3} For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: {4} That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. {5} For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit."
(1 John 3:11-19) "For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. {12} Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous. {13} Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. {14} We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. {15} Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. {16} Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. {17} But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? {18} My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. {19} And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him."
